Upton Country Park Adventure playground

Completed October 2019

The Project

Following a successful Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) application submitted by the Friends of Upton Country Park a new adventure play area is now on offer to young visitors and young-at-heart adults.

The project provides an exciting new destination play space for Upton Country Park. Designed to stimulate creative play, the bespoke timber play equipment is challenging, educational and celebrates the six senses of inclusive play.

Starting outside the Education Centre in the heart of the Country Park, play features meander down through the grass towards the woodlands bordering the shoreline meadows.

Opened 26th October

Work started on 23rd September 2019 and was completed by the end of October, in time for school Half Term despite some very wet weather conditions during construction. In February 2020 the project was officially named ‘Spurrier’s Play Park’, as voted for by park users, in honour of the Spurrier family that built Upton House in 1816.
