This 2025 report outlines the actions taken by BCP Council to comply with the Biodiversity Duty under the Environment Act 2021. It presents BCP’s first report on biodiversity, on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and our actions for delivery for nature recovery.

The local nature recovery strategy provides a 10-year framework to help everyone work together towards a shared vision for nature recovery in Dorset. Dorset’s natural environment is one of our greatest assets, but over time it has been weakened. This strategy marks a turning point – an end to the decline and a focus on recovery. The work towards it was coordinated between Dorset Council, BCP Council, Natural England and a wide range of local people and organisations.

The BCP Council Plan for Play provides a comprehensive framework to transform play provision across the BCP area, fixing existing issues while building a foundation for future generations. It brings forward a strategy that sets out how our play infrastructure should be managed, designed and improved.
