Landford Way, Bournemouth – consulting on proposals for a new play space

Published 9 June 2026

UPDATE  17 September 2026.

Having evaluated feedback gathered through local engagement we found 62% of respondents favoured improvements to the existing play spaces at Setley Gardens and Chesildene Avenue, so funding will be allocated to those two sites instead – bcpprojects.net/plan-for-play/landford-way.

The open space at Landford Way could be transformed into a wonderful new play space for local families – and we’d like your feedback on the proposed location and overall suitability of the proposals.

As part of the BCP Plan for Play, we are exploring the possibility of creating a new play space at Landford Way, to provide a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for children and families.

In the future, play spaces across the BCP area will be fewer in number but higher in quality, with a greater focus on inclusivity and accessibility. To support this, we are investing more than £4.6 million to improve 120 play sites.

In the Muscliff & Strouden Park area the proposal is for an exciting new play space at Landford Way to replace older, smaller play spaces nearby which would have equipment removed once the new alternative is in place.

Consultation is now needed to fully understand the support for a new play space at Landford Way, and we have created a short online survey to collect your views on the proposed location, and overall suitability of the proposed space.
