Tuckers Field Improvements, Hamworthy
Last updated 23rd November 2023
The Project
In 2022 the Friends of Hamworthy Park asks people’s views on what would enable them to better utilise Tuckers Field.
Thank you to everyone who has participated and shared their ideas.
Priorities identified were a secure boundary to Tuckers Lane, benches and new natural play features. People also wanted to see a grassed area suitable for ball games.
Following recent funding success, these improvements will be carried out this autumn.
We hope to further enhance this space with the planting of fruit trees, shrubs and wildflowers in the future.
The project gives local residents an alternative to the other parks in the area, increasing their wellbeing and sense of community through easy access to nature and increased recreational opportunities, while potentially reducing overuse of other local greenspaces.
The Works
Photos from 20th November (L-R) show preparations for the new play & agility trail; new benches have been installed, and the ballgames area is being levelled; along the boundary with Tuckers Lane, new fencing is being installed, and vegetation has been cut back to allow better views into the site:
